Chaim Lotan

Director of the Heart Institute at The Hadassah University Medical Center


Prof. Lotan is the Director of the Heart Institute at The Hadassah University Medical Center in Ein Kerem, Jerusalem. He had a distinguished medical career at the Hadassah University Hospital, during which he also founded the Israeli Working Group for Interventional Cardiology and served as its Secretary General for several years, and also served as a President of the Israel Heart Society from 2011- 2013.

As a prominent figure in the world of interventional cardiology, he became the Chairman of the Ministry of Health Committee for Certification & Licensing of Coronary Stents in the Israel and has been in addition the principle investigator in many of the leading studies in interventional cardiology and coronary stents, with many publications in this field.

Prof. Lotan has been invited as a faculty member and a much appreciated lecturer to many of the leading interventional meetings.

Prof. Lotan is an author and co-author of more than 240 scientific publications in many aspects of Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology, with over 300 abstracts and presentations in Scientific Meetings.

Prof. Lotan has been deeply engaged in the startup world, and has served as a Consultant and Medical Advisor for many medical industries and start-up companies, among them: Medtronic Global Advisory Board Member, Johnson & Johnson and Medical Director at Arineta, Bendit and Cordio.

Prof. Lotan is the co-founder and co-director of the international scientific conference of “Innovation in Cardiovascular Intervention” (ICI) held annually in Israel – the premiere congress on this topic, with over 2,000 participants.

He initiated and, together with Dr. Yaakov Nahmias, built a multidisciplinary academic track of Biodesign Innovation at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Prof. Lotan has been faculty in the major leading meetings in Cardiology, including ESC (European Society of Cardiology), TCT (Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics), CRT (Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy) and has elected as a Member of the International Exchanges and friends of the Chinese Society of Cardiology and is a Faculty member of the CIT (China International Therapeutics) and CCI (China Cardiovascular Innovation).

Lately, Prof. Lotan is deeply engaged in China.
